對於 125cc 的引擎容量來說，428 尺寸是過度規格。
Honda CT125 (Trail125) 搭載的引擎，即使是輸出更高的 Super Cub C125、GROM、Wave125 等車款，使用的鏈條尺寸也都是 420。

將 428 改為 420 鏈條的輕量化效果，能讓加減速更順暢。加速會更好，煞車也會更靈敏。由於阻力減少，油耗也會改善。當然，最高速度也會提升，並且透過使用油封鏈條，保養週期也能延長，相較於無油封的 428 鏈條，油封型的 420 鏈條調整間隔會更長。
