Introducing GARAGE “WORKS”
[A Solitary Custom Cub Creator Who Transforms the Everyday into the Extraordinary]
Makio Abe, representative of "GARAGE 'WORKS'" in Nishi-ku, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture, is one of Japan's leading custom Cub creators. The Super Cubs and Cross Cubs created by Mr. Abe transcend the mere concept of a vehicle; they are "running works of art" that maximize the joy of ownership and the thrill of riding. Based on custom styles that break the conventional notions of the Cub with bobber, chopper, and unique interpretations, his work includes the "CC Series" specializing in Cross Cub customs and the "Otokomae Cub Series" focusing on internal quality. His vast repertoire and exceptional taste are highly praised both domestically and internationally. He meticulously handles much of the process himself, from calculating the body balance and applying advanced custom paint with depth to producing one-off parts down to the smallest detail. Mr. Abe's philosophy, themed "To adults who are like boys," is not just about finishing a vehicle beautifully, but about creating a one-of-a-kind "partner" that resonates with the owner's sharp sensibilities. His activities extend beyond vehicle production to "old brown," an industrial furniture and garage interior division, where he continuously offers a one-stop solution for "all aspects of adult lifestyle" centered around motorcycle culture, making him one of Japan's leading custom Cub creators.
Fusion of Tradition and Supreme Supervision. Custom Kit 'Nostalgia' for the Current CUB110, Supervised by Garage Works
The "steel Cub" (older model) has been the mainstream in traditional street Cub customization. While retaining its vintage appeal, the 'Nostalgia' custom basic kit for the current Super Cub 110 was born, pursuing reliability as a daily ride and "reproducibility that anyone can beautifully assemble."
■ Fully Supervised by Japan's Foremost Cub Creator, Mr. Abe of Garage Works
The most significant feature of this project is that Mr. Abe of "Garage Works" (Kumamoto), who boasts one of the top reputations and skills in Japan's Cub custom scene, handled the supervision and design. With his exceptional taste, which has produced numerous masterpieces, the current model's unique frame shape was utilized, elevating it to an elegant proportion.
■ Amazingly Easy to Assemble
Highly technical processes such as frame cutting and welding, which were necessary for conventional hardcore customs, have been minimized. By making it a specially designed "basic kit" that perfectly fits the wiring and bolt positions of the current Cub, it has become an "overwhelmingly easy-to-assemble package" for both shops and custom enthusiasts.
The 'Nostalgia' combines the excellent starting performance and fuel efficiency unique to fuel injection, modern braking performance, and Mr. Abe's particular attention to detail from Garage Works, resulting in a finish that can truly be called a modern street Cub.
